Spend your Saturday morning learning the Sgraffito Technique! What is Sgraffito? It comes from the Italian word Sgraffire which means to scratch. The sgraffito technique in clay means to scratch or carve away the top surface color to reveal the underlying clay color.

About the event
Spend your Saturday morning learning the art of Sgraffito! Each participant will get to choose a premade cup to scratch or carve your design onto. Participants will learn the skills of carving as well as understanding postive and negative space while maping out a design. You can come with an illustration ready to go or check out some different ideas that will be provided.
The cups in the event image are an example of sgraffito. Thrown cups provided will range in size and shape from 6 oz to 12-14 oz. You will be able to choose your size and color. If time allows Sgraffito 2 cups 2 different sizes!
No experience necessary just a willingness to learn something new!
All materials, firing and glazing will be provided by The Clay Lab.
